Joe was my friend.  I met him through a prayer group.  He was a roofer on the side from his distinguished career in CFD, and did my roof.  He was always there to help when needed.  We are all blessed to have known him, and he will be sorely missed.  God bless and keep you Joe.  I'm sure you'll be at His side in heaven.

Our hearts go out to his family during their time of grieving.  We will miss you.

It was pleasure to have worked with Joe at E-106's quarters on T-13.  Joe was with us for a while as he soon moved on for promotion.  A memory I have of Joe is when we would stop at a smoke shop at Irving and Springfield to play the Lotto and Joe would get a handful of Arturo Fuente Curly Head cigars.  To the Guidi Family, May God's gentle love surround and uplift you, filling your mind and heart with His consoling peace.

Joe Guidi was as genuine, honest, brave, and faithful a person as you could ever find! When Joe was your friend, he was your friend forever, no matter what! 

He loved every member of his big family with all his heart! 

With that same stout heart he also loved God, Our Lady, America, and his friends. He had a heart for people. He always wanted the best for everyone. Many people have a closer relationship to God because of Joe and his example. 

He was exactly in his daily life everything we admire about a great firefighter: brave, big hearted, strong, perceptive, high minded, cheerful, compassionate, and yet very down-to-earth. 

What a great sense of humor he had! Can any of us ever forget that great, wonderful smile of his? 

We are ALL better persons for having known and admired Joe Guidi!

Mr. Guidi was a big part of my childhood. My parents were very devout Catholics, and wanted to raise us in the faith. They asked him if he would provide catechism class to my brothers and I. He accepted and would come to our house in Humboldt Park early Saturday mornings back in the 1970's.  After class he would take us to the playground to hit the softball 🥎 or toss the football 🏈 around.  Years later I would go on retreat at Shellbourne and he was there too. I would reminisce those childhood memories with him.  Mr. Guidi was a wonderful man.

Our time here on earth is borrowed from God. We are given an opportunity from our Lord to be a steward for him. To love others as he loves us. Joe was just this. He was a very caring, giving and loving friend to many. He was very proud of his family and loved the Lord. Joe you will be missed, but we shall see you again.  May his family find comfort in these sorrowful times and peace knowing Joe is with our Lord.

Dear Genevieve, and family,
     We were so saddened to hear about Joe’s
passing. A dear husband, father, grandfather,
brother, uncle, cousin, and friend to many.
     Our deepest condolences and sympathy

       Joe my first cousin was always like a big brother to me. He will always be in my heart and mind with all the fond memories we have of him. Joe will be dearly missed by everyone

       I know Joe is now with his Heavenly Father and all our relatives and friends that

Dear Guidi Family,
   Losing a friend like Joe really stings. I can only imagine the grief and 
pain you feel now. I know he loved you all more than life itself and for him that was hard to do. How I'll miss the fishing trips with Joe, John, and Tom. The milestone house parties, gatherings, and one on ones at the basement bar. The dinners with Gen and Sandie and recounting the glory years at beloved G.T.  I'll miss seeing him at mass, retreats, circles with Strozda's band of brothers and his rosaries which you were all included in. My relief pitcher at the Womens Center is gone. Mostly I'll miss the visits with a best pal over coffee and cigars.  What a great friend we have lost-what a legacy he leaves behind.  But, what a soul Jesus has taken for Himself. Dear friend, the first time I met you, you gave me a job. I loved the fact that my dad was born the day before me and you were born the day after me. The two most influential men in my life at 16 years old. You taught me the importance of family and loyalty. I not only thought of you as one of my best friend’s dads but as someone I thought of as family.  I saw you struggle and prevail but never make excuses because you walked in the footsteps of Christ followers and knew what it meant to be human. I look forward to your hugs when I enter the kingdom of God.
