We were so sorry to hear about the passing of Joey.  It still just can’t seem to register in our minds. Joey resembled his dad in so many ways. It brought a smile to our faces. We are still in shock down here.  I can’t imagine a family party without you.  I will miss your animation and passion when telling stories from when you guys were younger.  We would all laugh so hard listening to your rendition of all that “happened” to you guys. When I was younger,  I can remember you trying to convince me to listen to Pantera instead of New Kids on the Block lol.    I will miss your voice, you always captivated everyone in the room.  We will find comfort knowing you and Uncle Ron are now angels watching down on us from heaven.  Rest In Peace man. Until we meet again cousin.  Keep drumming...


I am so sorry for the pain and sadness you all are feeling for the loss of Joe. I had worked with Joe at TU, he was one of a kind and a hard worker. He introduced me to “real” heavy metal music. He was always tapping /drumming away at his desk...he would make me laugh so hard as he would tap away at the dance jams coming from my desk....especially the song “Dynamite” by Taio Cruz. Please accept my deepest sympathies and condolences. May you find the strength during these difficult times and celebrate the wonderful memories you have of him.  

I knew Joe from grammar school  Joe was a very kind person and always said hi when we would see one another in class . My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends

Joe I'll never forget all those awesome, fun nights growing up watching you play and admiring your talent... and just having fun. You made an imprint on everyone in the neighborhood. 
One way or another we were all family, and you will always be remember as such.

When I look back at  our grammar school & high school days we had a lot of great memories! Joe would always be the guy that would dare everyone! He would say you don’t have a hair and the next thing you knew we were running from someone! We had some great times parties, concerts & chasing girls! As we got older I had the pleasure of playing cards with Joe & the boys! All I can say is Joe you left a big impact on a lot of people’s lives and you will be missed! Until we meet again at the Beer Can Alley in the Sky!

I was so  saddened  to hear the news of Joe’s passing. My memories go way back with him being my kindergarten “crush”.  I have so  many wonderful memories of Joe and all the DeVitto family from growing up in the neighborhood with them. My sincerest condolences go out to his wife and all of his family. I wish you peace and comfort during this difficult time. 

May all the warm and special memories you shared with Joe stay with you and bring you comfort through all the days ahead.

I worked with Joe and Jim in the late 80’s early 90’s at Southtown Economist. Although I have not seen the guys since then I have fond memories of those days. I am very sorry for your loss and the void that Joe will leave behind. I can tell by the many accounts here that he meant a lot to many people. I too recall his drumming skills as I had the pleasure of witnessing him play.  He was amazing. I always found Joe to be calm, cool and collected in his work. That’s how I will remember him. 

May God grant you all strength during this trying time.

I'm not even sure what to say ... this has shaken me to my core.  I haven't seen Joe or any of the DeVitto brothers (or Lin) in over 20 years.  Nonetheless, all of my fondest childhood and teen memories included them.   I'm so very sorry for the entire DeVitto family and the pain you are feeling and hope that by remembering all the funny stories you can find peace in your hearts.

I was blessed to have known Joe as a friend and neighbor since childhood, and I will always treasure the many memories we had together. He left us too soon and he will be missed. Heaven has gained a great man and one kick ass drummer. My deepest condolences to his beloved wife Maribelle, Mrs DeVitto and Michael, Linda, Jim & Ron.

Thanx to Riggs, my nickname is TOMBAG! I mentioned jamming with Joe earlier and how great he was! I was in the basement at 6105, and he was behind the kit, getting ready to unleash! He played a song, in headphones that would forever, CHANGE MY LIFE! If you never heard Joe play the drums, listen to,"TAKE HOLD OF THE FLAME!" From Queensryche! That was a minor description of how incredible  Riggs played!

Mike & Jimmy, I know it's been a couple decades since I talked to all of you but I just heard thru a co worker who knows you that Joe has passed on.  It hit me like a sucker punch & I am very sad and shocked to hear this news. I never forgot Joe, he was a nice stand up guy & I have no bad memories of him, on the contrary they are all great, he always had a grin, a man who enjoyed life.  I truly wish all of you & the family & friends of Joe the best during these difficult times,  53 is just too early for someone as awesome as Joe to check out.  I am unsure if I will be able to attend the service due to the current plague restrictions set by the state, I WILL try  but if not please accept my most sincere condolences here . Uncle Joe, 

My heart has been completely broken since I received the news of your passing. You were the center of attention in any room you walked in and always struck up a good conversation from nothing. No family party will every be the same without your loud voice, infectious laugh and unforgettable personality. I am beyond blessed to have so many amazing memories with you. I am thankful for all the support and unconditional love you have given me all these years. I am proud to call myself your niece and I will carry your memory with me everyday. Tell grandpa I say hello and enjoy your endless jam sessions up there. it’s not a goodbye, it’s a see you later. Love you always. 

Still at the Meet and Greet with Ronnie James Dio, Joe got to meet the band, watch his dragon get assembled and took a picture behind his tour bus.  Still not 100% positive it was a Dio Tour bus.

This was one of Joe's favorite pictures.  Joe met Ronnie James Dio and the band at a warehouse records and when the pictures got developed Joe said Ronnie was pointing right at him.

So proud to have this honor at your wedding. 

Joey,  how do we say goodbye to a loving, kind, funny,  argumentative and wonderful nephew?  We’ll miss all your questions and deep discussions.   Your laughter and booming voice!  The room lit up when you and Maribell walked in.   You’re with your dad now, in each other’s arms.  Heaven will never be the same!  Love you, Aunt Marge and Uncle Jim

I’m very sadden to hear this news.  My sympathy and condolences are with Joe’s family during this difficult time.  

I worked indirectly with Joe at TransUnion.  I always enjoyed talking with Joe and his matter of fact personality.  We shared a passion for music and talked about various aspects particularly percussions/drums.  If there can be any silver lining it such an incredibly difficult time, we know he was doing what he loved.  My thoughts and prayers are with you. 

My heart goes out to the DeVitto Family, thoughts, hugs and prayers to you all. 

It's so surreal that you were called to heaven so suddenly. Our hearts hurt and may never be the same, but may your death guide us to appreciate each other even more as Family. I will miss you at our gatherings. Tell Uncle Ron hello and give him a big hug from me. I hope they had a set of drums waiting for you.

Uncle Joe! My heart is broken. You were such a great uncle, god father, friend and sibling to all. I knew the party started when you and maribell would walk into grandmas house making your entry well known. Your loud voice and laugh will be sincerely missed. I hope you’re rocking away in heaven with grandpa.

Joey, you have been taken from this earth way too early  - I can only assume there is a purpose much bigger....You were not only a colleague, you were my “3rd Italian brother”, a confidant.  I will miss the laughs, the intense conversations and debates, and mostly the finger drumming at your desk. 😉. I feel blessed to have known you!  I raise a glass of bourbon in your honor.  I, and your TU family will miss you dearly!
