Beloved husband of 42 years to Mary (nee Bundra) Hall, adored father to Caitlin (Jason) May, and amazing grandfather to Clifford and Anthony May. Also, heavily missed father to his beloved furbaby, Riley. Loving brother to Deb (Rich) Hall-Reppen, Robert (Maura) Hall and the late Jeanne (Aidan) Ryan. Radiant brother-in-law to Dr. Stephen (Judy) Bundra, John (Debi) Bundra, Frank (Mary) Bundra, Joe Bundra, and Lucy (Peter) Mori, doting uncle to numerous nieces and nephews, and a true friend to ALL.
Jonathan started his career as a banker, worked for the Government, earned not one but two master’s degrees and then had a long-time career with the City of Chicago as Director of Loan Processing.
Jonathan was an avid sports’ fan. He bled Cubbie blue and enjoyed going to many games throughout the baseball season with his family, especially his wife. He had an infectious personality that could light up any room as he made his way around to make sure everyone was comfortable, had a drink, and were having a good time. He enjoyed many adventures with his longtime buddies from golf outings, sporting events and annual guy trips to Arizona. Retired for a few years, Jonathan enjoyed keeping busy with workouts at the gym, learning/playing pickleball with Mary, fixing up the house, walks with Riley, reading, travel, and spending time with his family.
Jonathan cherished life and lived in the moment. He loved when he earned the title “Grandpa” in 2021 and again in 2023. Clifford and Anthony kept him busy with monster trucks, “vroom-vrooms”, blocks and Duplo Legos whenever Grandpa came to watch them.
Jonathan is incredibly missed as we navigate life. Please come to a celebration of life for Jonathan, Friday, June 14, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM with a prayer service to follow from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Andrew J McGann and Sons Funeral Home, 10727 S. Pulaski Road, Chicago, IL 60655.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Cancer Society in Jonathan’s name.
