To Joan Flemings entire family, She was one of the nicest employees at the Secretary of State office. I worked with Joan for years at the Midlothian DMV. She took the job seriously, but always found time to laugh with her co-workers. She was an absolute awesome lady, and I wish I had known about her passing, sooner. God Bless Joan

I am very sorry to hear about Joan's passing. I knew her for a short time seeing I was one of her CNA's. I have been thinking about her lately. She was a wonderful lady. My prayers will be with your family.

What a delightful women.  Strong, Fun, Caring and certainly a family matriarch.  Mom to everyone she met.  You will all miss her deeply, but also have years of wonderful memories to share for generations to come. Bless you all!

I'm so sorry for the loss of your mother. Growing up at 79th and Washtenaw was so much fun, and lots of lasting memories. One of the best parts was being friends with the Fleming family.  Your mom (and dad) were so nice to us, and generous with their time. I still remember your family showing me that it's ok to "eat the potato skins"... when eating baked potatoes :)   Just one of the many memories of knowing your family. My thoughts and prayers are with you guys.

I did not know Joan but I do know her son Bill.  She truly must have been a great women to have raised such a smart, kind and wonderful son.  I am very sorry for the family's loss.  I know that words are never enough at this time.  Time will heal all wounds but will not diminish the memories.   The family will be in my thoughts and prayers.  I believe we all go to a better place filled with nothing but peace and happiness. She is there now.

When I remember growing up on Washtenaw, Mrs.Fleming will always be woven into those memories. She was a great friend to my Mother., to all of us.  I will remember Mrs. Fleming and my Mom having coffee in the morning and cocktails in the evening . Among so many qualities Mrs. Fleming was a great cook , a terrific decorator and had a great laugh. My prayers and thoughts are with all the family.  She will be missed.  Janis Walsh
