I believe the measure of any man is his family, and by that yardstick Mr. McIlvain's life

It's a true & humbling privilege to say I played sports with all four sons & the only difficulty I have is saying who was best. I can't & won't choose.

Our sincerest condolences go out to the McIlvain family at this sad time. He was a great man and he will be missed.

I was sorry to hear of Mr. Mac's passing but I know he lived a long and happy life and left a lot of great memories to remember him.  

My condolences to the entire McIlvain family.

Mr. McIIvain was a sweet man.    I remember the first time I met him,  way back in grade school,  and I thought to myself that he was pretty handsome for a "dad"!    He always had a smile to offer and a warm hello.   All the kids from St. Greg's respected him; liked him. 

Rest in peace, Mr. Mac.   You will be missed.

One of the last times I saw Jim McIlvain was at a wake of a friend, John Resch with George Tracy and looked at one another and we each thought or even said "which one of us will be next."  Well George died and now Jim and I know they are in Heavenly Peace.  'til we meet again dear Jim.  I know my late husband Tom enjoyed his friendship at their various places of comradery.  We all will miss a "swell" Greyhound. Peace to all of Jim and Carol's family.

When growing up, Mr McIlvain was one of those parents a kid like me could always learn from. He was a dedicated man to his family and St Gregory's Parish, and unless one of us kids got into trouble (yes, he was one to correct you even if you weren't his biological), he always had a smile. 

He was the "beer garden" director at the church carnival, and also ran it for the Mardi Gras, Workers Party, Spaghetti Dinner, New Years Eve party, and Oktoberfest. He was a great man and whenever I would run into him later in life it was always a wonderful conversation. 

Usually, if there was a McIlvain up to something, a Giese wasn't far behind and vice versa. But somehow, "Mr Mac" always knew and when he would ask you a question about where you were at a particular time, if you were involved, or how you were doing in life, you couldn't help but tell him the truth. He had the respect of all us kids and he will be greatly missed by all. 

RIP Mr. Mac, thank you for your service to your country, and I SALUTE YOU.
