Corrine attended Francis Parker School and graduated from The Bateman School (in Chicago’s McCormick Mansion). She raised four children as a single mother while working as a bartender at Irving Park watering holes like Ross’ Take Ten, and Mary Anne’s.
Corrine sent her four children to St. Benedict Catholic School for their elementary and high school education. Over summer breaks in the mid-60’s, Corrine packed up her four children and headed to Camp McCormick in Eagle River, Wisconsin, where she worked as a camp counselor.
The family home on Larchmont was a hub for the neighborhood and friends. Corrine loved sitting poolside in the sun in her backyard, also known as “Pineapples”. In retirement, Corrine helped raise her grandchildren and bowled at Timber Lanes. Family is extremely grateful to the staff at Paul's House, where Corrine spent her final years.
Beloved mother of Nicholas Zartler, Corrine Rae Zartler, Russell (Kelly Doherty) Zartler, and Lisa Zartler (partner Jose Carrasquillo) Koewler; adoring grandmother “Gram” of Korrina and Nicholas (Jackie Hardin) Zartler, Jr., and Jonathon Koewler.
Preceded in death by parents Helen Elizabeth Erickson (nee Eichler) and Nels Siegfried Erickson; her devoted aunts Evelyn Eichler Patzold and Grace Eichler; her dear friend and former partner of two decades, Ross Bondi; and her canine companion, Lobo, the huskie-malamute mix.
Friends and family will gather for a visitation on Tuesday, May 9th, 2023, 4 - 8 pm, Drake & Son Funeral Home, 5303 North Western Avenue, Chicago, Illinois 60625. Funeral Wednesday, May 10th, 2023, 10am, at the funeral home, followed by burial at Saint Joseph Cemetery, 3100 Thatcher Avenue, River Grove, Illinois 60171.
