Consuelo Sanchez

Beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.

Pre-deceased by her loving husband Jose E. Sanchez (Pepin), her son Jose A. Sanchez and siblings, Edna Espalter, Pedro Espalter and Georgina Balandrin.

“Chelin”, as her friends and family knew her, was born in the beautiful town of Baracoa, in eastern Cuba on February 20, 1928. She went to Guantanamo to study and became a Junior High School teacher. There she met Pepin, they married and had three boys. The communist revolution brought them to Chicago in 1970 where she started a new life in a new country, she worked as a kindergarten teacher’s aide at Inter-American Magnet school until her retirement. Those little kindergarteners loved her, and she loved them!

Chelin was caring, loving and generous to her family. Her grandchildren will always remember her love towards them and her famous special buttery pancakes “Chelin’s Pancakes”!

She was always at family events and took many vacations with her family. We treasure those moments spent with her. And because of her love of taking pictures, we have many memories for years to come.

Chelin and Pepin were the dancing couple of any party. She made the best arroz con pollo in a pressure cooker, crema de vie and her famous flan which was never missing during any of the family events. Dementia slowed her down, but she was always very happy to be with her family. There are endless things that will keep her part of her family’s memories and traditions.

She is survived by her sons, Jorge (Giselle) and Javier (Patty), daughter in law, Teresa, brother Arnaldo Espalter, her grandchildren, Giselle King (Zachary), Steven (Sarah), Jose Raul, Emily, Cristian, Jorge Antonio, Karina, Alejandro, great grandchildren Olivia and Mason King and many nieces and nephews.

Javier and Jorge advise you to participate in Consuelo Sanchez Chapel Service, you can join at 11:30 am and services will start 11:45 am (04/03/2021)
