Vince Amato was born on October 30,, 1947 in Cleveland, OH. Vince was the loving and devoted son of the late Anthony and Frances Amato, late brother Peter (Christine) and is survived by his little sister, Marie (Don), his nieces and nephews, Nicole (Brian), Maria (Terrence), Christi (Lou), Julia (Reinhard), and Peter (Veronika). He was a loving great uncle to 16 great nieces and nephews. He attended Collinwood High School, where he played football, baseball, and excelled at wrestling. His childhood friends remember his great personality and always being the “handsome dude that was loved by the ladies!” He landed a scholarship for wrestling at Mount Union where he attended college. Over the years, he held a host of interesting jobs, including Acting Safety Director for the City of Cleveland. Vince had a passion for playing golf, cooking and spending time with his friends and family. He loved to share his culinary skills, especially his famous lasagna recipe. His little sister (and best buddy) Marie, recently took a video of him making lasagna at her house where many laughs were had in the process. Vince had a sense of humor that would keep you laughing for days. These past 6 months brought many health challenges for Vince, following his open heart surgery. Despite his daily struggles, he managed to keep us laughing with his quick wit that will be missed with every passing day. Vince’s love for his family was fierce. His weekly visits to Marie and Don’s house for a cup of coffee will be greatly missed. Vince didn’t have children of his own but loved his nieces, nephews and their children as if they were his. They filled that void for him up until the day that he passed. Vince had a heart of gold, a personality that could fill a room and he will forever remain a significant part of all of our hearts.
