Marilyn Myrtle Whitcomb

Marilyn M. Whitcomb, age 88, passed away March 19th, 2022. She was born to Ray Whitcomb and Sylva Lura Betts Whitcomb in Chesterland and was a lifelong Chesterland resident. She lived in the same home for all of her life.

She graduated with the first class to graduate from West Geauga High School in 1951, and went to work as a skilled assistant in a doctor’s office. She went on to become an elementary school teacher and taught in Middlefield, Chesterland and Willow Hill Christian School. She taught for 26 years until her retirement in 1998. She especially adored her two cats: Paddington and Blackie. She also enjoyed reading, gardening, and handcrafts, and collected every card that was ever sent to her.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents Ray and Sylva and is survived by many cousins in northeast Ohio; her church family at Chesterland Baptist; her good friends Nancy Green and Marilyn Wilson and many local friends.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday March 23rd, 2022 at Gattozzi and Son Funeral Home, 12524 Chillicothe Road in Chester Township. Visitation will be from 10am-12pm at the funeral home and Pastor Jerry DeHart will officiate the Funeral Service beginning at 12:00 noon with interment immediately following at Western Reserve Memorial Gardens, Chester Township. There will be a reception at the church afterwards.
