Helen Waddington Lamb, age 92, of Concord Township, passed peacefully on Thursday, Dec. 22, 2016 in Chagrin Falls, Ohio. A daughter of the late James and Bessie (Smart) Waddington, Helen was born in New Philadelphia on September 3, 1924. She was valedictorian of the New Philadelphia High School class of 1942, and then went on to graduate from the Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. She was head of the nursing department at General Electric’s Pitney Glass Plant for 35 years.
She married Willard “Larry” Lamb on August 19, 1951. Together the couple shared a love for travel, gardening, home improvement projects, and spending time with family and friends. Helen is survived by sons, Todd (Laura) Lamb of Dallas, Texas and Roy (Laurie) Lamb, of Chagrin Falls, Ohio; grandchildren Austin and Emily Lamb; sister Judy Waddington Carruthers of Chesterland, Ohio; and loving extended family. In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Willard Lamb.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 28 at 11am at the Chapel of Western Reserve Memorial Gardens; 11521 Chillicothe Road, Chesterland, Ohio 44026. Interment at Western Reserve Memorial Gardens, Chester Twp. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Helen's name be made to the Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing at Case Western Reserve University, 2120 Cornell Road, Cleveland, Ohio 44106 or to a charity of your choice.
