Elinor H. Harris (nee Elinor Jeanette Haskins) passed away on June 18th, 2022 at the age of 86. She was proceeded in death by her husband Herbert Harris who passed away in 2015. Elinor is survived by her son Ralph Harris; daughter-in-law Sun Harris; grandchildren John Schutte, Philip Harris, and George Harris; sister Marge Cook; brother Robert Haskins; and many nieces, nephews and their children.
Elinor was born on November 26th, 1935 in Bainbridge Township, Ohio. She was the third child of Leslie and Hazel Haskins, a fifth generation descendant of the Haskins family who came to Bainbridge in 1818 from Massachusetts. After graduation from Bainbridge High School in 1953, she attended Baldwin Wallace College, earning a B.S. degree in Home Economics in 1957. She taught junior and senior Home Economics in South Euclid-Lyndhurst and Warrensville Heights School Systems. Elinor lived most of her life in South Russell, moving later to Painesville Township to be close to her family.
She was a long time member of the Federated Church in Chagrin Falls, a charter member of the Bainbridge Historical Society and a volunteer at the Bainbridge Library. Elinor enjoyed reading, especially history, and spending time with her grandkids. In her final years, she was cared for by her daughter-in-law and was able to spend time close to her family.
Graveside Service will be held at Restland Cemetery, 17759 Chillicothe Road, Bainbridge Township 44023 on Thursday June 30th, 2022 at 2pm. (Please Meet at Cemetery).
