Carol Ann McCarthy (nee Nowakowski), of Chesterland, died on Monday, November 6, 2023 following a long battle with cancer and dementia. She was at home, surrounded by her loving family. Carol enjoyed bowling, slot machines, camping, and gatherings with family and friends. She worked as a waitress at the Towne House restaurant in Chesterland. Carol was married on October 14, 1961 to the love of her life, Anthony McCarthy. The two built a home, started a family, and lived happily in Chesterland for nearly 50 years prior to Tony’s passing in July of 2011. Carol is survived by her son, Michael (Diana); daughters, Susan Henderson (David) and Holly Norton; grandchildren, Jeremy (Becca), Charles Benslay, Kayla Norton, Jessica McCarthy, Jason McCarthy, Joseph McCarthy (Donna); 5 great-grandchildren who she loved dearly; siblings Linda, James, and the late Dennis. She was a loving aunt to many nieces and nephews and a friend to so many. Visitation will be held at Gattozzi and Son Funeral Home located at 12524 Chillicothe Road, Chesterland, Ohio 44026 on Saturday, November 18, 2023 from 11am until 12pm. Celebration of Life will begin promptly at 12pm at the Funeral Home. Committal prayers and burial will follow at Western Reserve Memorial Gardens.
