Winnie Triplett Mills, 93, of Chattanooga, TN, passed away Sunday, October 7, 2017. She was born in Cleveland, TN, the sixth daughter of James and Eleanora Fitzsimmons, and she graduated from Chattanooga Central High School, the Chattanooga School of Business, and the Tennessee Beauty School
.
Winnie worked for over 35 years in the business office of the Ernest Holmes Company in Chattanooga, and she is in many photographs in the archives of that city’s International Towing and Recovery Museum. After retirement, she modeled fashions for Anna Ball White of Cleveland.
A long-time member of Central Baptist Church of Chattanooga, Winnie served as choir member, Training Union leader, and Sunday School teacher for both adult and youth classes. For the past two decades, she belonged to First Baptist Church of Cleveland.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 50 years, John Denton Triplett, and dear husband of 14 years, Donald Mills, as well as sisters Myrtle Mantooth (Wayne), Edith Fox (Edwin), Lillie Sample (Bruce), Pearl Frazier (Ralph), Mona Miller (Clarence), and brother Hoyt Fitzsimmons (Wanda).
Winnie is survived by children Joan Triplett Easterly (Clay) of Knoxville and John Triplett (Paula) of Cleveland; by grandchildren Elliott Easterly, Evangeline Easterly Taylor, Elizabeth Easterly, Patricia Triplett, Amanda Triplett; and by great-grandchildren Phoenix LeBron, Micaiah LeBron, Violette Easterly, and Alexander Easterly.
A Remembrance Service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Monday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Tom Wicks officiating.
The family will receive friends on Monday from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. before the service at the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, 7414 Old Lee Highway
