Tony was born October 3, 1956 to Stella Myrethia and Harley Morgan Wood Jr. He was the youngest of four children, all born within less than six years. Larry Morgan (who preceded him in death) was oldest, Patricia Ann Grissom, came next, and then MaryRuth Tipton, and finally, Tony.
He grew up in the rural community of Smyer, Texas, working on his family’s cotton farm and playing on the high school football team and in the band where he was a drummer. In his youth, he played the drums in a rock band and later in life transitioned to drumming at church. He went on to develop a strong Christian faith that was further strengthened when he traveled to Egypt and then to Israel/Holy Land in 2009.
He attended South Plains Junior College where he received a degree in refrigeration. He started Lakeside Mechanical in Branson, Missouri, which is still a thriving business. He sold that and went on to establish T&T Appliance, servicing restaurant kitchens in the Chattanooga, TN area.
Tony loved projects, the bigger the better, totally gutting and restoring two different homes. In recent years, he installed solar panels and built a deck around his swimming pool. One of his most creative feats was converting a simple box trailer into a travel trailer complete with heater, AC, kitchen, bathroom, and a queen size bed.
In November of 1975, Tony married Sharon Madison. They lived primarily in the Branson, Missouri area and had two daughters, Lyndi Bartlett (husband Derick), who had Addison, Ivy, Waverlee, and Clark Bartlett; and Jeri Hoffman, who had Sebastian and Atreyu Hoffman.
In 1999 Tony married Teresa Miles and lived in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Tony and Teresa raised her granddaughter, Georgia Jarrell and grandson, Keven DeGraffenreid. They were married until September 2021 when Teresa died of COVID.
Tony remarried September 30, 2023 to Christina Sartain. They enjoyed a rich year of travel and adventure, making beautiful memories together. Tony recently got a call from heaven, and as Christina said, “Once they got his mailbox up, they came to take him home.”
