Sybil Ann Jacks, 89, of Chattanooga died Friday, November 29, 2024. She was born in Anniston, Alabama and was a graduate of Anniston High School, Class of '53. Sybil earned a bachelor’s degree from the Erlanger Nursing School where she graduated at the top of the class in 1957.
She was a member of Ridgedale Baptist Church for over 60 years, where she served as Director of WMU and Acteens, and was also a Sunday School teacher. She also served as the Director of the Hamilton County WMU.
She retired from Memorial Hospital where she was a surgical nurse for about 30 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Henry Franklin Jacks, Jr. and her parents Walter A. Wooten and Mary Louise Wooten and her brother Bennie Wooten.
Survivors include her children Andrew Jacks, Susan (Randall) McCloud and Stacy (Frank) Alexander. Grandsons Garren (Sarah) McCloud, Senior Airman Bryce McCloud, Jackson Alexander and Nicolas Alexander. Great grandchildren Max Hollis McCloud, Miller Blake McCloud and Elouin Grey McCloud. Several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 11-1 Tuesday, December 3 at Ridgedale Baptist Church.
Funeral services will follow at 1 at the church with Dr. Doug Plumlee officiating. Interment will be in Lakewood Memorial East.
The family would like to thank the staff at The Lantern in Collegedale and Hearth Hospice for the excellent care they gave her.
