He is preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Annie McCroskey; sister, Helen Parker and brother, David McCroskey.
Reed was a member of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He graduated from Rossville High School where he enjoyed sports and lots of friends. He was the owner of Ingle-Knox Insurance Agency until his retirement. He was a member of Brainerd Kiwanis Club, serving as president and had perfect attendance for 30 years. He served and retired from the National Guard. Reed loved UTC football and basketball and attended with a great group of friends. They enjoyed many road trips throughout the United States.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Janette Reed; was immensely proud of his three children - son, Joseph Reed McCroskey II; daughter Martha Kirby (Scott) and son, Pat McCroskey (Lisa); grandchildren, Marissa McCroskey (Matt Tudor), Tony Kirby (Micah), Joseph McCroskey III, Laura Kirby, Hannah Harrell (Sam), Jordan McCroskey, Mason McCroskey and Harrison McCroskey; great-grandchildren, Ariana McCroskey and Adelyn Kirby; sister, Peggy Carter and brother Donnie McCroskey; he also loved and enjoyed lots of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm, Monday, August 17, 2020 at First Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 1505 N Moore Road, Chattanooga, Tennessee 37411 with Dr. Courtney Krueger officiating. Interment will be at Chattanooga National Cemetery at a later date.
