Ralph was a WWII veteran having served as a lineman in the U.S. Army. He was awarded a victory medal, a good conduct medal and two bronze SV stars. Throughout his life, he was the owner of Esso Gas Station, Nichols Hotel and co-owner of Hickory Valley Motors. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in East Brainerd, Alhambra Shriners Motor Patrol and the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry. Ralph loved to fish and hang out with nephew, Terry Duncan.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 67 years, Geneva Nichols.
Survivors include his half sister; Lois Pierce, nephews; Larry Duncan, David Nichols, Charles Duncan, Jack Shelton and many great nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.
A private Graveside Service will be held at Lakewood Memory Gardens, East.
