the union of the late, Mr. Pettus Parker, Sr. and the late, Mrs. Annie Craig Boswell
in Bessemer Alabama on April 12, 1937.
From this life of eighty-five years, he transitioned from earthly life to eternal life with the Lord on Thursday, January 5, 2023 in a local nursing home care facility.
Pettus was a proud graduate with the Class of 1955 at an all-black, African-American school
in Bessemer, Alabama; Dunbar High School, “Home of the Blue Devils”. After high school,
he continued to seek higher education and received an Associate’s Degree in Business.
During college, Pettus relocated to Chattanooga, Tennessee for a better opportunity
to advance his career and began working at Memorial Hospital. He was also
employed with The Volunteer Army Ammunition Plant (Formerly TNT), operated by the
U.S. Department of Defense before retiring from Fibron Corporation after 30 years of service.
Pettus accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age. He joined the Union Hill
Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Dr. William H. Ryan, Jr.
During his tenure at Union Hill, he was a dedicated and loyal member who served
faithfully in the Deacons Ministry and on the Trustee Board.
Pettus met the love of his life, his wife of forty years, Mrs. Martharee Parker,
and they were united in holy matrimony in August of 1966.
He enjoyed spending time with friends and family, watching movies, eating and traveling.

His Sisters, Mrs. Emma Lee (Joseph) Tarrant and Mrs. Irene (Johnny) Walton;
His Niece, Gloria J. Tarrant and His Nephew, Clifford S. Tarrant
Pettus is survived by;
four nephews, Douglas (Wayne) Tarrant of Allen, Texas, Jerry (Nita) Tarrant of Atlanta, Georgia, Michael Tarrant of Terre Haute, Indiana and Joe “Lil Jay” Tarrant of Bessemer, Alabama.
Four nieces, Patricia (L.C.) Smith of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Emma Dean (Ronnie) Baltimore and Anita Osborne, both of Bessemer, Alabama, and Deborah (David) Woodward of Nashville, Tennessee. And a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, extended family and friends.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, January 16, 2023

Interment: Lakewood Memorial Gardens East
