In the 1950’s she was a homemaker. She returned to school and received a degree in nursing, and by the 1990’s she was Director of Nursing at Collegedale Lifecare Center. In life she loved her children, grandchildren, her church, her community, cooking for others in need and being there for her lifelong friends.
She loved and cared for her first husband, Pledger Finnell, who suffered with heart disease for 30 years. Two years after his death, something happened that was heaven sent. This wonderful man, Mr. Loyd Walker, showed up at her house. He eventually became the love of her life and has been for the past 15 years.
She was preceded in death by her first husband of 54 years, Pledger Finnell and her brother, David Sims.
Survivors include her husband, Loyd Walker; children, Priscilla Lynne (David) Finnell, John Michael (Cathy) Finnell and Rosanne Finnell; grandchildren, April Finnell, Chris Finnell and Angelica Finnell.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday in the Valley View Chapel with the Rev. Larry Williams officiating. Interment will be in Ooltewah Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 12 noon until the time of service on Friday at the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory & Florist, 7414 Old Lee Highway.
