Nicholas Davis Kennedy, Sr., went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 22, 2016, after a sudden illness. He was 81.
Nick served his country as a United States Marine from 1953-56, his city as an officer of the Chattanooga Police Department, his family as a business owner, and his Savior as a deacon and Sunday school teacher. He was very involved with CBMC International and Channels of Love.
He was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Kennedy, Sr. and Cartha Davis Kennedy Suggs; his siblings, Joe Kennedy, Jr., Velma Cox, Audrey Kelley and Jeanne Wilson.
A wonderful husband and loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather, he leaves behind his wife of 58 years, Wanda Guice Kennedy; son, Nicholas Davis Kennedy, Jr.; daughter, Pamela Jeanne (Mark) Scott; grandchildren Amanda (Timothy) Thompson, Abbie (Tony) Blake, Madison (Nick) Kemp, Jacob, Samuel, Bailey, Zachary, Taylor, Casey and Daniel Scott, five great-grandchildren and many, many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, December 28, 2016, in the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at the funeral home.
