She was born July 10, 1931 in Chattanooga to the late Loma Mae & Hoyle Jackson, Sr.
Mrs. Young was a member of New Haven Baptist Church.
Her husband, Joseph Wheeler Young, Sr., sisters, Gladys Samuelson, Virginia Stephens, and brothers, William Jackson & Hoyle Jackson, Jr. preceded her in death.
Survivors include her sons, Michael (Rebecca) Hicks, Ronnie (Karen) Hicks, and Maynard (Karen) Hicks; step-son, Joseph (Karen) Young, Jr.; sister, Joyce (Joe) Morton; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Friday, May 26, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services will begin at 12:00 in the East Brainerd Chapel with Pastor Trey Holland officiating. Interment will follow at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
