Mary Eleanor Allison

Born Mary Eleanor Dover in Shelby, NC, she graduated Tennessee Wesleyan College in 1962 prior to marrying her college sweetheart.

Eleanor was a dedicated and loving wife and mother whose greatest joy was spending time with her family.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Rev. Don Allison; children, Debbie (Jeff) VanRysselberge, Lisa Allison, David Allison, & Charles Allison; and granddaughters, Allie VanRysselberge & Finley Allison.

As a Chaplain’s wife, she relished the experiences of traveling both near and far, with especially fond memories of living in Hawaii and Okinawa, Japan.

Eleanor loved people and was a beloved Pastor’s wife. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church and the Fellowship Sunday School Class. Giving to others was one of her finest gifts; she possessed a true Servant’s heart, and was adored by all that knew her – especially her children.

Christmas was her favorite time of year, her family was blessed to be able to spend her final weeks with her listening to her favorite Hymns and carols.

The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to both Senior Helpers of Chattanooga and Amedisys Hospice who provided great comfort at the end of Eleanor’s life.

Visitation will be held at Christ UMC Wednesday, December 18, 2019 from 5-7 PM, with funeral services at 7:00 PM.

Graveside service will be Thursday, December 19, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
