She was the daughter of the late Oswald and Myrtle Thompson and was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Nathan Barker, and three siblings, Jim Thompson, Billie Murphy and Harry Thompson.
Mabra was born August 23, 1931, in Athens, Tennessee. She graduated from the Baroness Erlanger School of Nursing and had worked as an RN for 40 years at Erlanger Hospital.
She was a longtime member of Tyner United Methodist Church and the Sarah Circle.
Survivors include her two sons, Scott (Debbie) Barker, David Barker, two grandsons, Greg (Amber) Barker, Jonathan (Rebecca) Barker, all of Chattanooga, three great grandchildren, Emery Claire, Wetherly, Hudson, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, October 2, 2017, in the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Pastor Charlie Harrison officiating. Interment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens in Hixson, Tennessee.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m., Sunday and from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m., Monday at the funeral home.
