Alma Lucille Wilson, known affectionately as “Loulou” by her family and many friends, passed away suddenly on August 9, 2010, at the home of her daughter, Joyce. She was 93.
Lucille was born in Borden Springs, Alabama, on June 13, 1917, to Henry Alfred Miller and Emma Jane Lorren Miller. She had eight siblings, Jesse, Stella, Burt, Jack, Ronnie, Maude, Lora, and Beryl, all of whom predeceased her. When she was thirteen, her mother brought her and her two sisters to Collegedale, Tennessee to attend school.
Except for brief periods of time in which she lived in Connecticut, Florida and Virginia, Lucille spent most of her life in Ooltewah, Tennessee. She was known and loved for her genial and quick wit as well as extraordinary thoughtfulness for others.
Lucille’s husband, William Ralph, predeceased her in February of this year, and her daughter, Joanie, this June. She leaves three surviving children – R. Larry Sinor of Rogersville, Tennessee, Joyce A. Grivas of Wildwood, Georgia, and Karen Sue Smith of Vienna, Virginia. She also leaves nine grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and a number of children she has cared for to mourn her passing. Her friends are too numerous to count.
The family will be receiving friends at the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home on Thursday, August 12 between the hours of 6 and 8 P.M. and again on Sunday the 15th between the hours of 12 Noon to 1 P.M. The funeral will be at the Valley View Chapel on Sunday the 15th at 1:00 P.M., with interment in the Collegedale Memorial Park in Collegedale, Tennessee, where she will wait for the resurrection trumpet of the Lord she loved and to whom she prayed constantly for her family and others.
