She was born February 19, 1926 on the family farm in Trenton, ND to the late Annie Handley and Frank Arthur Weeks. The rural farmhouse where she and her 11 siblings lived lacked utilities so she moved to town to finish her last two years of High School, working for her room & board. After graduation, she went to work at a local cafe, where she met the man she would later marry, Robert C. (Bob) Stevens, and they married on September 16, 1946. Just over a year later they welcomed Shirley, their first of four children and Lenore focused her life on raising their children.
Lenore was also a fantastic cook, professional level seamstress (frequently making the children’s clothing) and homemaker. She had impressive artistic talent, filling the home with her oil paintings and pottery. She also really enjoyed growing flowers and frequently her bouquets could be seen in the Grants Pass Seventh-Day Adventist church. After traveling to all 50 states, Europe, Asia and Australia, Bob and Lenore retired to Grants Pass in 1983, where they lived for almost 40 years. While in Grants Pass, Lenore volunteered for the Red Cross and was very active in the Seventh-Day Adventist Church.
