Laura Mae Jefferson was born on August 21, 1934, in Limestone County, Madison, Alabama to the late James and Florence Love. She transitioned to her heavenly home peacefully on August 12th, 2017.
She was united in holy matrimony on December 25, 1956 to JD Jefferson and in 1957 they established Chattanooga, Tennessee as their home.
Laura accepted Christ as her personal Savior at an early age. Early in her life she was a humble member of Christian Fellowship Church under Reverend Terry Ragland and Reverend Harry Toney. Later in life she became a faithful and dedicated member of Stephen Temple Cumberland Presbyterian Church in America where she served in the Senior Choir, Missionary Society, Hiwassee Presbyterian, Tennessee Synod and General Assembly, Kitchen Committee, and Usher Board. She was also active in her community and retired from Providence Life and Accident Insurance in 1996 after many years of celebrated service. Laura was also a member of the Menlo Park Neighborhood Association, as well as the Order of the Eastern Star.
Laura was known for her incomparable cooking, especially her homemade cakes, yeast rolls, soup, and more. She was also highly respected and liked for her quick wit, impeccable style, generous heart, and adventurous spirit.
She is proceeded in death by her brothers Willie “Tank” Love; James Love, Jr.; and Wesley Love, Sr.
Loved ones to cherish her memories are her loving and faithful husband, Elder JD Jefferson; her devoted son, Eddie Gene; two loving granddaughters, Tracy and Vivian; two great grandsons, Nate and Lawson, her caring and dedicated niece, Zylea Cook; siblings JW (Lottie) Love; Lillie Mae Wilson; Donnie (Theodore, Sr.) Cook; Richard (Clemmie) Love, Sr.; Mimie Love; William (Karen) Love; Jacqueline Love; Travis Love; Sherrie (Darwin, Sr.) Hobbs; Robert Fullenwider; Phyllis (Reginald) Stallworth; and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
