Two things I will always remember about Kevin is his never-ending smile and him rubbing my shoulders every time I saw him. He would always tease me and tell me I needed to stop carrying the weight of the world on my shoulders. I think maybe two of Kevin's greatest gifts were his ability to make anyone he met feel relaxed and at ease and his knack for making people smile. Perhaps my favorite memory of Kevin was the first time he introduced me to his son Reed. Kevin was beaming from ear to ear when he handed Reed to me, and he said, "Isn't he the greatest thing, Terrie? Isn't he just the greatest thing ever?" Kevin loved you so much, Rachel, he loved your children and he even loved the crazy Dennard side of your family.  I count having Kevin as part of our family as one of the greatest blessings of my life. I love you, sweet girl, and will always be here for you and Reed and Kinley.

First time I met Kevin he was dressed all nice but was wearing sandals. I thought to myself I don’t know about this guy lol. Who knew how’d close we’d become.  I think about him every time I see one of his sports teams on TV, drive past a Krystal’s, smoke a cigar, or drive past your old NC house.  I have 3 years worth of text messages between us on my phone that I’ll go back and read often.  I laugh so much reading them. It amazes me that he had ALS all 3 of those years and still always kept his sense of humor.  We love you guys and think of you often. 

His love for Justin Timberlake! I remember him telling us that he would listen to JT while he was mowing the lawn. Now every time I hear JT I think of Kevin. ❤️

Please keep this wonderful family in your thoughts and prayers. Kev’s smile could light up a room and his personality was one like no other. We went to high school together and then he married one of my best girlfriends which led to vacations, kids birthday parties, and high school reunion memories that I will cherish for ever.

My family were blessed to live across the street from Kevin and Rachel in Ooltewah, TN. We got to know them first as neighbors and then as friends. One of my fondest memories of Kevin was the afternoon I was taking our 14 year old dog, Darla,  to have her put down. I had taken her outside to stand in the sunshine one last time. When Kevin saw us standing out in the street he stopped mowing and came over to say hello. After I told him what I was doing that afternoon he said the kindest, most heartfelt and compassionate things to me and my old dog. It was a hard day but Kevin’s words and smile were a bright spot that I will never forget. 

To say the world lost a great person  is an understatement.... Kevin was such an amazing guy! He had a smile that would light up any room and he didn’t meet a stranger! Seems so unreal that I’m even talking about this and that he is no longer with us! He’s definitely gone too soon and will be missed so much by so many! Please keep Rachel ,their children and family close in prayer today and all of the days to come!! Fly high Kevin Schultz we love you buddy!!! ALS Sucks! 😭

Heaven has gained a beautiful, beautiful angel. Not only was he a friend of mine since high school, but he became like family as I was privileged enough to stand at the alter and witness him marry one of my best friends more than 11 years ago. An amazing man, husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend. He will be so greatly missed. 
ALS sucks. Bad.

Kevin was one that could always put a smile on everyone’s face just through his infectious spirit and that kind smile of his own! I remember spending time with him at the fraternity house and formals for Lambda Chi! He also shared my best friend, Kyle Bowron’s birthday, so we always made it a point to celebrate that fact, as well. He was a Godsend on earth, and now he’s a guardian angel in Heaven.

When I hear Kevin’s name, I think of his big, cheeky smile and his laugh, but also of what a good, solid man he was. I served as the alumni advisor to LXA while Kevin was president of the fraternity. This relationship can be adversarial sometimes, but never with Kevin. I told him I would always have his back with the university, the Fortwood neighbors and anyone else as long as he was honest with me. I gladly kept my end of the bargain because Kevin kept his. The world needs more people like Kevin and I’m happy to have known him.

I first want to wish my condolences to the family.  I am so very sorry for your loss. I am the mother of two adult children that went to Ooltewah high school with Kevin (Justin and Jessica Oakes) . They both remember Kevin fondly and also wanted to send their condolences. Justin played sports with Kevin and remembers him as a wonderful person. Know that our family will continue to pray for all your comfort and peace. May Kevin’s soul Rest In Peace. 

Mike Kathy, I am so saddened to hear of Kevin’s passing and I am mourning with you. In recent years, Mike and I have had several phone calls, recounting his trials with Kevin’s deteriorating health and the angst of helplessness he felt. The trial, for him is over. He is living it up, eternally. I am praying that your trials will draw you closer to the Lord as you celebrate his life. 
I was next door neighbor to Mike, Kathy and the kids in Carol Stream and I met Kevin the day he came home from the hospital. As a very young boy he and several of his buddies roared through the neighborhood on Hot Wheels, it seemed, endlessly. Like most boys, he occasionally got into mischief and on , at least one of those, I observed him smiling BROADLY, even while receiving a spanking from his mom! So, even though I haven’t been around him much for many years,, I believe he hasn’t lost that trademark smile! Even TODAY, eternally. 

My heart goes out to Kevin’s family. I didn’t know him but his parents are my next door neighbors.  Mike has talked to us (my husband, Randy, and I) in the past about Kevin and dealing with ALS. I just lost my dad suddenly on December 21, 2019 and this saddens me to hear. Our thoughts and prayers are with all the family at this tragic time. May God give you all strength and comfort.

Rachel, I am so sorry to hear about  your husband, Kevin. I know you have taken great care of him but more importantly he knows you did.  I pray God’s peace, grace and comfort surround you and your kids during this difficult time. I pray that  your memories of him will bring joy to your heart and that the mention of his name will always put a smile on your face. Keeping you and your family in my prayers during this difficult time. 🙏🏼

My sincerest condolences to Kevin's family and friends. When Kevin was a teenager, he worked at Winn Dixie along with his best buddies, Anthony and Rob. I was fortunate to work with them.  Time and circumstances have changed and I haven't seen the "boys" in many years.
My heart hurts for all of you.  As a parent, I unfortunately know the pain of losing my own daughter. My prayers for strength and peace as you navigate  life during this time.

My cherished memories of Kevin was when he was a boy.... he always had that smile it was his trademark. 
My family and his were very close those years when they were in Carol Stream, as my sons and him were great friends.
My heart is breaking at this sad news but God has him now and he will be blessed forever.

So sorry to the entire family for your loss. Rachel, I have thought about you many times. My cousin in Jacksonville, Fl. is also suffering from  ALS and I can't imagine what you went through. My cousin was diagnosed over a year ago and it has been very difficult. I remember when Kevin and a group of kids did the talent show with Ashley and he was so much fun when he would come to the house to practice.  He loved to dance and he was so much fun. Great memories of those kids from Ooltewah. He will be greatly missed. I am so sorry for your loss.
