Kenneth Dean Wood, 80, of Ooltewah, TN, passed away Tuesday, September 25, 2012. A native of Solomon, Kansas, he graduated from Solomon High School in 1950 and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 to 1955. He accepted Jesus Christ as his savior on July 2, 1955 and was ordained as a Deacon of Greenwood Baptist Church in August 1958 and has served in various positions of the church to present. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Treva Burns; five brothers, Carl Wood, Evarett Wood, Leland Wood, Wayne Wood and Vernon Wood; daughter, Denise Wood Frizzell; son, Roger Dean Wood; sister, Fern Wood Trego. Survivors include his wife, Julia Holland Wood; daughter, Kelly Wood (Vernon) Howard; step-daughter, Sandra K. Buck; six grandchildren, Stephen Frizzell, Carrie Frizzell Bannon, Joshua (Tyler) Morgan, Tisha Morgan and Nathan Davis; four great-grandchildren; sister, Pauline (Larry) Hemmy; daughter-in-law, June Wood; two sisters-in-law, Ruth Wood and Donetta Wood; 13 nieces and nephews; 17 great-nieces and nephews; several great-great-nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Greenwood Baptist Church with the Rev. Toby Brogden, the Rev. James Vaughn and the Rev. Ricky Vaughn officiating. Interment will be in New McDonald East View Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Deacons of the Greenwood Baptist Church and Richard Claburn. The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. – 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. on Saturday at the church before the service at the church.
