Arthur Kelly Hughes, 61, of Chattanooga, TN, passed away Sunday morning, January 15, 2017. He is preceded in death by his son Kyle, and parents Arthur and Dorothy Hughes. He is survived by his wife Karen, daughter Apryl, son Andrew, grandson Jackson, granddaughter Navilie, and sisters: Ellen Jackson, Donna Strickland and Margaret Lane.
Kelly grew up in South Florida, graduated from South Plantation High School and Bucknell University. His career began in building materials and cement in South Florida and South Carolina. In 1987 he moved to Chattanooga to raise his family for his many years in the concrete industry in North Georgia and Tennessee. He always tried to be the best father he could be and loved his family deeply.
He loved music, was an exceptional keyboard player and took up the guitar later in life. He was an entertaining story teller; interests were religion, philosophy, history, sports, cars, and quantum physics. Kelly was an outstanding athlete and excelled in football, track, skiing (water and downhill); he loved boating, as long as it was a fast boat.
Kelly will be deeply missed by his wife, family and friends. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to an organization that feeds hungry children, helps the homeless.
