I'm so saddened by the news of John's death. Our prayers go out to Joyce and the children. Remember that Underwood spirit, as well as the goodness he showed to everyone. His grandmother Hattie probably had a little something to do with that! May God bless all of you. Your cousin Wilson.

I worked for John in personnel at Dixie Yarns Chattanooga plant. He was a great Christian manager who truly cared for all the employees .

Truly a chosen man of God.  We will miss your sense of humor you always shared with my brother, the example of a genuine friend.  So blessed to have been in your circle of friends and could always expect a word of encouragement or a word of wisdom that I will cherish forever.  Fun times listening to JB at our Labor Day gatherings and showing support for America as you knew all too well and lived it daily.  Love you my friend.  Keep on dancing and I will see ya on the other side!

John was always smiling and willing to help anyone. We know he will be greatly missed by family and friends. Our prayers are with the family, he is resting in the arms of his savior.

I worked with John at the Lupton plant for several years. John was a  excellent human resource manager and very helpful to me in my career at Dixie yarns. I will miss seeing him on Facebook. John was a good Christian man and he is now in God's care.

I met John, Joyce, and Shelley during the summer of 1976 playing ball for Joyce' uncle, Maurice Bedsole in Fayetteville, NC. We became instant friends. When Dixie was looking for an HR Manager for a couple of plants in Fayetteville and I was asked if I knew anyone, I jumped on it and John interviewed and was selected for the job.

I moved to another Dixie Plant, and John took my place at Chattanooga Finishing. I visited John, and we took a walk around the plant and it was apparent they thought a lot of him. As we were leaving the quilling department, going down the steps, we encountered an employee who had just come back to work after losing her husband. As we talked, she wept......John did too. He truly felt her grief and grieved with her. John was a sincere soul who loved people and experienced their emotions like they were his own.

We ended our conversations with, "I love you brother." I'm sure this was repeated by John to all his friends. I will miss his warm, sincere demeanor. and man alive, did he love God and his family.

I was shocked and saddened to learn of John’s passing.  I hired John at Dixie Yarns many moons ago and thoroughly enjoyed working with him.  We became good friends as well as work mates.  He always brought a shining light and energy wherever he went.  He was such a good man very devoted to his family.   Rest in peace, dear friend.  Sincere regards,  Bill Leonard
