A beautiful rose plucked from the garden, a doctor, friend, father, brother, son, and candle that has burned out long before his legend ever will. It was a great joy to arrive at work and see Dr. Nicely' s auto outside. The laughter, the jokes, the talks, the lessons learned and lessons taught... all are going to be greatly missed. Your spirit and memories will last many lifetimes because of who you are/were and they impacts you made. Thank you!!!!

Thank you for the memories. You loved your children more than anything, and were a true example of what a father should be. Even when I had my own daughter this year, Jason was the one to help me! Jason was a true example of what it meant to be generous. I watched him give hotels to the homeless, fund emergency departments of hospitals with covid supplies, and pay for multiple dinners of families who were in need. He always was looking for a way to take care of others. 

He spoke about being a physician, but he was more than one- he truly understood helping people; and what happened when they passed. He knew life continued- eternal life. I know he is with Jesus because of these conversations. He’s not gone- his spirit will live on through Bella and Lucas who he instilled in the sense of travel, adventure, adrenaline,  strength, and to always life the best life possible! 

Jason- thank for you for the time we shared together. I have so many great memories I will always cherish because of you. 

To the entire family- I am praying continuously for all of you. I am so sorry for your loss. I am grateful for memories I have had with your family because of Jason. 

I have known Dr Nicely  since  his arrival to  Hamilton,   right out of Residency.  He was always happy, helpful, so knowledgeable,  medically and  his computers...... everything, but most outstanding was his love for his  children,  beyond belief,  as well as  all of his family  and friends.  There are no words to explain  the love and respect we all have.for Jason.   He is already and will continue to be missed....... his laughter, jokes, interactions with all are and will continue to be  remembered,  talked  about and relived ,    We will so miss you. 

I had the pleasure of working with Jason a few years at the Hamilton YMCA in the fitness center.  Was always happy to give him some extra study time and knew he was putting in the work to set the foundation to be a great ED physician.
My family and our former MCH family was very sad to hear of his passing. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his entire family.

I’ve worked with Dr. Nicley at Hamilton medical center ER since he joined. His contagious smiles, easy going attitude…what a sweet guy. I loved working with him. He would text me early in the morning when we both get off work, him telling me he’s taking one wheel to take his puppy to a park, his days his plans with his beloved children etc.. I will miss that, I will miss him dearly.

What wonderful memories I've had with Jason.  Way back from college; going wake boarding, riding motorcycles, trail running, working out, riding mountain bikes...

Jason was the best man at my wedding.  He was always there to listen to me and always there to laugh with me.  He was the most driven and dedicated person I've ever met.  Jason inspired me to try harder and keep up.  I remember him telling me about going into to medicine because it would allow him to make a difference and help others.  Jason had such a positive impact in so many people lives.  Mine was one one of them.
I miss you dear friend!

Jason was a wonderful neighbor and great friend.  We enjoyed seeing him playing with his children he so dearly loved.  He was a joy being around and his infectious smile would lift your spirits.  He will be greatly missed.

With the sadness and grief that came when I heard of Jason's passing also came wonderful memories of the time he and I spent together. I first met Jason when we were taking undergrad classes at UTC. We quickly became close friends. We both had aspirations of becoming doctors, and we walked side by side through the ups and downs of the process from undergrad to medical school at UT, where we were roommates, to residency at Erlanger. There are so many memories: running our first 2 marathons together, a quick trip from Memphis to Florida for a change to beach scenery for our incessant studying, him joining my family in Chicago when my wife and I got engaged, celebrating the birth of our children, time at the lake skiing and wakeboarding, his infectious laugh, our regular workouts at the gym, and on and on. I owe so much to this man and wish I could tell him that.  

I worked with Jason during his residency at Erlanger Baroness in the ER.  He was always kind hearted and while he took his job very seriously, he sure loved a good laugh… and we had many.   Such a creative, deeply caring man that is gone much too soon. 
 I will hug my children extra tight tonight in his honor, as I know how much he loved his….  RIP my friend.  

I remember when Mark and I were temporarily living in Huntsville, and we had dinner with Jerry one night. We had to go to Toys R Us afterward because Jason’s 6th birthday was coming up,  and his dad had to buy him some sort of Super Mario Brothers game. That was one excited and motivated Daddy for sure. Jerry and Judy, I’m so sorry for your loss and pray that you will find comfort in friends, family, and memories. 

I enjoyed working with Dr. Nicely. He loved to talk about his family. He loved having adventures with his kids. 
He cared about his ER staff and patients very much. He will be greatly missed by all

August 5,2006 Kate and Jason married in a beautiful ceremony at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. On December 3, 2008 Isabella Ann Was born and on October 6, 2011 Lucas Christopher was born. These two have been a joy in everybody’s life. Jason adored his children and they have wonderful memories of him. Bella & Lucas Are blessed with their amazing mom Kate and four grandparents who absolutely adore them. They say it takes a village to raise children and they have a village around them of terrific friends of Kate and Jason to be there for them any time they are needed. 

A true professional and a kind soul he was. He was a joy to work with and I will miss him. My sincerest condolences to his family and his coworkers. 

I worked with Dr Nicely for years at Hamilton Medical Center’s ER.  He was a wise man. He treated his patients well- with both care and knowledge.  He had a very easygoing and friendly disposition. He had a ready smile and was a pleasure to be around.  He will be greatly missed

I worked with Dr.Nicely in the ER since 2017…When I would inform patients who their doctor would be that day -they would often ask if he was true to his name-I would chuckle but could honestly say “yes he really is nice”! I always appreciated the autonomy Dr. Nicely allowed me as a nurse and the trust that existed between us. If I ever came to him concerned for a patients condition he always took me seriously and responded promptly. He knew when to get serious but also how to be personable and make the staff laugh. He was one of my favorites and will be greatly missed. 

He was a great friend and a brother in law for many years. He was an amazing dad and a brilliant doctor. I am devastated and pray for comfort for his family. 

Great friend and doctor. We took a trip out west together and we were planning to again. Rest In Peace, brother. 

Jason nicely was a great person and a great doctor and a good friend.  I really enjoyed working with him he will be missed and loved by so many friends and family  . 

Dr Nicely was a friend and coworker.I enjoy so much working beside him and talking with him . He loved his kids . I miss coming to work and seeing his car there and saying I’m glad his there  . He was the best and he was cut short of life but for me his life will carry on , I’ll never forget him . Thank you Dr Nicely . 

I enjoyed working with Dr. Nicely. Third shift seem to last forever but he was a cut-up and made things fun.  You could see how compassionate Jason was with his patients. He treated everyone with dignity and respect. All around great guy that talked about his kids non-stop. He will be missed. Prayers for his family.

I was a Paramedic and worked with Dr Nicely in the ER setting as well as bringing him patients on the truck. He never acted like a boss. He was a coworker. He was always ready to help and made me a better medic. I miss you.

I worked fairly often with Jason when I was working hospitalist shifts at Hamilton Medical Center.  I haven't worked with him in a while as I changed positions, but he was always so kind, caring, and compassionate to his patients and his colleagues.  He was soft spoken, always seemed to have a smile, and took great care of his patients.  I pray over all his loved ones (particularly his children who it was so clearly evident he loved and cherished so very much) peace and healing of hearts now and forevermore.
