He was born August 31, 1960 in Chattanooga, TN to the late James Tate and Charlotte Murray. He was a longtime resident in Georgia.
James Tate was a mechanic most of his life and enjoyed working on cars. He had a big heart and never met a stranger. He was a loving husband, son, brother and a father. He really loved and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He was previously employed for his brother at Integrity Heating and Air. He was of the Christian Faith and a big believer of prayer.
He was preceded in death by his father, James E. Tate; and Charles Murray; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John Tate, Elbert Gaddis and Charlene King; grandson, Aaron McIntosh.
Survivors include his loving wife of 34 years, Beverly Tate; daughters, Tiffany (Heath) Jarrett, Misty Tate of Chattanooga, TN; Margaret McIntosh of Tunnel Hill, GA; son Austin Tate of Tunnel Hill, GA; grandchildren, Addyson Kincaid, James Ellis, Annsley Covington, Greyson Williams; Brother Rev. Christopher (Regina) Tate of Hixson, TN; Father-in-law Larry Wilson of Ringgold, GA; Nieces and Nephews; Close friends David and Becky Turnipseed of Ringgold, GA and Robin Woods of Tunnel Hill, GA.
The family would like to thank the staff of Amedisys Hospice for the special care they gave to James. A special thanks to his nurse Leah Wells.
A visitation for James will be held Wednesday, February 21, 2024 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Advantage Funeral & Cremation Services - Franklin Strickland Chapel, 1724 Mccallie Ave, Chattanooga, TN 37404. A visitation will occur Thursday, February 22, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM, 1724 Mccallie Ave, Chattanooga, TN 37404. A celebration of life will occur Thursday, February 22, 2024 at 3:00 PM, 1724 Mccallie Ave, Chattanooga, TN 37404.
