Born to James A.L. and Lizzie Mae Battle Rogers on December 1, 1945, James went on to attend Howard High School. He was a very versatile and ambitious man; even as a boy he always seemed to find work to keep himself busy. He also worked as a delivery boy when he was an adolescent. At 19 years old he joined the US Army and proudly served his country. In 1965 after returning, he worked for Goodwill, General Laborer, National Cemetery and Hamilton Place Mall; he finally settled on being self-employed
doing yard work and landscaping.
He loved and enjoyed his church home and church family at East Third Street Church of Christ.
James was preceded in death by his parents; and older sister, Minnie Bynum.
Those he leaves to cherish his precious memories are his three sisters, Mary Ann Garth, Susie A. (Thomas) Copeland and Jacqueline Rogers all of Chattanooga; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; other family members and dear friends.
Services are private.
Interment in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
