He was preceded in death by a daughter, Jill Suzanne Wheeler, his parents, A. H. and Cora Wheeler, a brother, John Wheeler and a sister, Betty Wheeler Brooks.
Jack is survived by his wife of 66 years, Nellie Ruth Glover Wheeler, a daughter, Cindy Annette (Ron) Stulce, a sister-in-law, Nona Wheeler, four step grandchildren, fourteen step great grandchildren, and many cousins, nieces and nephews and other relatives.
Jack was a partner in Wheeler Farms, served as a director of Southeastern Farmers Co-op, a lifelong director of the Farm Bureau and was inducted into the Agriculture Hall of Fame in 1994. He was an active member and Trustee of Apison Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday at Apison Baptist Church with Rev. Tylan Blansit and Rev. Brian Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Plowman Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home and from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m., Thursday at the church.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Jill Wheeler Memorial Nursing Endowment at UTC, Apison Baptist Church Building Fund or to the charity of one’s choice.
