A native of St. Paul, VA, he was born on October 4, 1931 to the late Samuel E. and Mamie Irene Simmons. He was a resident of Chattanooga for the past 60 years and was a member of the Hickory Valley Christian Church. Jack was a U.S. Air Force Korean War veteran, achieving the rank of SSGT, and received the National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal. Jack worked for Loveman’s as a Buyer for 25 years, retiring in 1989. He then worked for Bi-Lo for 22 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Emily R. Simmons; brothers, James, George and Sam Simmons and his sisters, Virginia Clouse and Margaret Adams.
Survivors include his five sons, Jack (Cindy) Simmons, Jr., Gary Simmons, Larry (Kathy) Simmons, Steve (Sherri) Simmons and David Simmons; nine grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, they family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation.

There will be no visitation or services at the funeral home.
A graveside service will be held at 2 PM Saturday, January 27, 2024, at Monte Vista Memorial Park, 1900 East Oakland Avenue, Johnson City, TN 37601.
