Gloria Jeanette Freedman

Gloria was born on October 7th, 1934, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She graduated from Constitution High School in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Gloria was a sweet, caring Christian who loved family and friends. She went out of her way to help anyone in need. Mom delighted in buying gifts and filled her home with presents on special occasions.

She loved family, called everyone daily, and was the glue and mediator that kept the family happy and loving. She was all about family and loved each family member so dearly.

Her love of animals inspired oldest daughter Christy to be lifelong vegetarian and animal crazy. Middle daughter Lori to always have a huge tribe. And youngest daughter Tami to be an animal activist and cat rescuer, plus dog-son Bubby, and seemingly 1000 cats.

She is preceded in death by her father, Cyrus Klinger; mother, Mamie Sullivan Klinger Cowan; Stepfather, Shorty Cowan; Husband of 67 years, Bernard Freedman; Daughter, Renee Christy Freedman.

Gloria is survived by her brother, David (Nancy) Klinger; daughters, Lori Parker, Tami Freedman;

granddaughter, Melissa (Andrew) Penland; granddaughter, Sherri (Jeff) Varner and family; granddaughter, Kara (Jitendra) Chauhan; great-granddaughters, Savannah Rhodes, Ta’leea Smith, Haley Jones, Kayla Rhodes, Skylar Rhodes, Shannyn Rhodes, Kenadie Rhodes, Seyenna Rhodes; great-grandsons, Kristopher Rhodes, Chanakya Chauhan, Kai Jai Chauhan; great-great Grandsons, Michael Mann, Keylyn Boozer; Kenji Finch.

We love you, Mom. We know you're in heaven surrounded by your family, friends, and life's worth of pets. Those of us left down here will miss you greatly.

A Homegoing celebration will be held at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, October 2nd, at Tyner United Methodist church. Visitation at the church will be 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Chattanooga National Cemetery,1200 Bailey Avenue, Chattanooga, TN 37404.
