She was born in Chattanooga to the late Elzie and Ruby Throneberry. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 66 years, Jack Wood and brother, Sonny Throneberry.
Peggy was a proud graduate of Central High School. She was a long-time employee at Aetna Insurance, where she was a Claims Processor.
Peggy was a member of Ridgedale Baptist Church. She loved to play bingo with her Ashwood Retirement Community. She loved her family fiercely and she will be greatly missed.
Left behind to cherish Peggy’s memory is her daughter, Debbie (Mike) Bird, grandchildren, Jennifer (Kevin) Stuckey and Jason (Sarah) Bird, four beautiful great-grandchildren, Savannah and Jaxon Stuckey, and Emerson and Oliver Bird.
A Celebration of Peggy’s Life will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, October 7, 2024 in the East Brainerd Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Dr. Bill Owens officiating. A private burial will be held on Tuesday at the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
