She was born on March 2, 1964 in Chattanooga, TN. Ellen started competitive swimming at age five and continued until she turned 18. She graduated in 1982 from DeKalb Christian Academy in Atlanta, GA. Ellen was also a Cheerleader and was a member of the Tennis Team, participating in both during her Middle and High School years. She had worked as an Administrative Assistant with the Elementary School at Silverdale Baptist Academy for 18 years before retiring.
To quote Ellen, “the two most important things in life is My Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and my family. Thank you Jesus for giving me life!”
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward Hays Luck and Sally Ann Stevens Luck and Tommy Freels “Papaw”.
Survivors include her loving and devoted Husband, Richard Rogers; Children, Noah (Amanda) Rogers and Gabe (Grace Rivenbark) Rogers; Mother, Patti Freels, Knoxville, TN; Sisters, Margaret Luck (Dan) Jones, Ooltewah, TN, Paige (Eric) Bonner, Knoxville, TN, Shannon (Rob) Edwards, Knoxville, TN, Carol (Jim) Smith, Knoxville, TN and Dawn Freels, Beaufort, NC; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends for visitation and host a car show in Her Honor from 4-6 PM on Sunday, June 23, 2024. A Celebration of Life Service will begin at 6 PM at the North Ooltewah Campus of Silverdale Baptist Church, 8761 Snowy Owl Road, Ooltewah, TN 37363. Pastor David Thompson will be officiating. Casual attire is welcome and Hot Rod shirts too. If you are bringing a car, please be there at 3 PM to set up your car for the event.
