Earl Wayne Smith, 66, of Ooltewah, passed away Monday, November 2, 2020. A lifelong resident of the Ooltewah area, and a proud graduate of Ooltewah High School, where he played football. He was a recently retired contractor/home builder. He was a member of the Cleveland Golf & Country Club where he loved to play golf and hang out with his golfing buddies whenever he could. He loved spending time with all of his grandsons.
He was preceded in death by his mother Olene Belvin and his father Melvin Smith.
Survivors include his two daughters, Emily (John) Belitz and Katie (Bryan) Welch; five grandchildren, Conard, Grady and Avery Belitz and Landon and Nash Welch; brother, Rick Smith and sister, Tricia Strange; step-mother, Gwen Smith; step-sister, Donna Long and step-brother, Lowell Lawson; nieces and nephews, Brittany Whittenburg, Ricky Smith, Autumn Turner and Caleb Long.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at Roane medical Center in Harriman, TN.
In lieu of flowers the family request memorial contributions be made to the Ooltewah High School Football Booster Club.
We respectfully request everyone abide by local Covid mandates of wearing a mask and social distancing during visitation and the graveside service.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:30 pm Sunday in Ooltewah Cemetery with the Rev. Jimmy Fowler officiating.
The family will receive friends from 4-8 pm Saturday at the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory & Florist, 7414 Old Lee Highway.
