He was born July 10, 1948 in Chattanooga to the late Charles & Bernice LaFevor.
Wayne was a 1966 graduate of East Ridge High School and earned his Bachelor’s of Science Degree from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville in 1971.
He was an avid golfer and lifelong fan of the Tennessee Vols.
He was a member of Ridgedale Baptist Church.
His brother, Charles LaFevor and sister, Tommie Dedmon preceded him in death.
Survivors include his two daughters, Courtney (Bob) Gregory of Annapolis, Maryland and Megan (Ben) Kearney of Hickory, North Carolina and their mother, Janet LaFevor of Chattanooga; and three grandchildren with whom he loved spending time, Ayden, Camryn, and Lucas.
A celebration of Wayne’s life will be held Monday, January 2, 2017 at 4:00 p.m. in the East Brainerd Chapel with Dr. Bill Owens officiating. Prior to the service, the family will receive friends from 3-4 p.m.
Because of Wayne’s courageous two year battle with pancreatic cancer, the family requests that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins Hospital at www.hopkinsmedicine.org., where he received outstanding care and support.
