Born and raised in Falls Mills, Virginia, Dot spent the majority of her adult life in the greater Chattanooga area and was a longtime attendee of the Ooltewah Church of God. As a devout Christian, Dot was guided by her faith and lived a purposeful life until her death at 90 years of age. In that time she was a faithful companion to her loving husband of 73 years, Billy Ray.
Early in life, Dot was employed by DuPont and later worked in the food service industry for almost two decades before her retirement. Even after retiring, Dot remained busy taking an active role in caring for her 5 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren who brought immense joy to her life.
Dot was preceded in death by her mother and father, Dexter and Georgie Caldwell; sister, JoAnne Rock.
Survivors include her longtime husband, Billy Ray; son, Rodney (Karen) Davis; grandchildren, Brian Davis, Dexter (Hannah) Davis, Jennie (Scott) Phillips, Sheila Bame, Mandy (Nick) Basham; 10 great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends 4-8 PM on Monday, August 28, 2023 at the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday August 29, 2023 in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Bennie Mills officiating. Interment in Hamilton Memorial Gardens will follow.
Pallbearers will be Melvin McDowell, Ronnie McJunkin, Bob Wagner, Scott Phillips, Joe Ferguson, and Jacob Morrell.
