Don Whittenburg, 90, of Ooltewah, passed away Saturday, September 21, 2019. A lifelong resident of Ooltewah, he was a member of the Ooltewah Baptist Church and was retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and loved farming, his Tennessee Walking horses, and loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his loving wife of 66 years, Joan Whittenburg; son, Mark (Kay) Whittenburg, Ooltewah; daughter Ann (Ray) Eslinger, McDonald; five grandchildren, Daniel Whittenburg, Lexie Moon, Remington Whittenburg, Will Eslinger and Meg Eslinger; great-granddaughter, Finley Kate Whittenburg, and beloved caregiver, Rosemary Raines.
The family thanks The Lantern at Morning Point for their loving care of Don.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions be made to the Ooltewah Baptist Church, 5514 Main Street, Ooltewah, TN 37363.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Ooltewah Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Williams and the Rev. Jeremy Colloms officiating. Interment will be in Ooltewah Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at 11 am Tuesday at the church until the time of service.
Arrangements are by the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory & Florist, 7414 Old Lee Highway.
