He was the son of the late Maynard and Louise Scott and was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Zimmerman Scott.
Don graduated from Bradley Central High School, attended Tennessee Tech before graduating from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in 1968. He was a former employee with Dupont and retired from TVA as a civil engineer.
He was veteran of the US Army and later became a paratrooper in the US Air Force. He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his two sisters, Elizabeth Thielke and Lillian Samuel, both of Chattanooga, TN, brother and sister-in-law, Ret. Lt. Col. Edward M. Scott and Miriam Scott, of Cookeville, TN, several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held 1:30 p.m., Friday, May 30, 2014, at the Chattanooga National Cemetery with military rites being conducted.
