Denise Russell-Ford, 61, of Apison, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on December 10, 2024. Born in La Grange, Illinois, in 1963 to David Russell and Marilyn Russell (Troyer), Denise spent much of her life in Apison and was a devoted member of the Seventh-day Adventist faith. Her life was a testament to her strong beliefs and unwavering dedication to serving others.
A graduate of Collegedale Academy and Southern Adventist University, Denise pursued a career in nursing, where she found her true calling. Throughout her career, she worked with several nursing agencies, including Continuum RX, AMOTEC, and RN Enterprises. Denise’s commitment to her patients went far beyond the ordinary; she was known for her tireless advocacy and compassion, ensuring that each person under her care received the highest level of attention and dignity. Her work left an indelible mark on the lives of those she served and their families.
Denise had an extraordinary gift for making others feel valued and loved. She never missed an opportunity to celebrate the milestones of those around her, often crafting thoughtful gifts that reflected her deep care and attention to detail. Whether it was family, friends, or strangers in need, Denise’s kindness knew no bounds. Her selflessness was a hallmark of her character, inspiring all who were fortunate enough to know her.
As an active member of the Apison Seventh-day Adventist Church, Denise found great joy in worshipping on Sabbath and living out her faith through acts of service. Her vivacious personality and witty humor brought warmth and light into every room she entered. Her infectious laughter was a source of comfort and happiness to those around her, embodying the joy she found in both her faith and her relationships.
Denise also had a profound love for animals, particularly cats. She opened her heart and home to countless stray and feral cats over the years, providing them with shelter, food, and unconditional love. Her property became a sanctuary for several cat colonies who came to rely on her daily care—a testament to her boundless compassion for all living creatures.
Denise was preceded in death by her beloved son Robby Lewis and her parents Marilyn and David Russell. She is survived by her loving husband Barry Ford; son David Trueitt; daughter Jacy Ford; daughter-in-law Brittany Gallman; grandson Noah Gallman; aunt Ruth Troyer; and uncle John Troyer. Her family will forever cherish the memories they shared with Denise and carry forward the legacy of love she leaves behind.
A memorial service honoring Denise’s life will be held at the Apison Seventh-day Adventist Church on Sunday, January 19th, 2025 at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to Native Women’s Wilderness, reflecting Denise’s heartfelt dedication to supporting Native American organizations—a cause close to her heart.
Denise’s memory will live on through the countless lives she touched with her compassion, humor, and unwavering faith. May we find comfort in knowing that she rests in peace with the Lord she so faithfully served.
