David Lee Scoggins, 77, of Birchwood, went home to be with the Lord Sunday evening, December 8, 2013 in a local hospital. A native of Chattanooga, he was a member of Sale Creek Church of God, where he was active in the Sunshine Senior Group.
David was a Journeyman Wireman with IBEW Local 175.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Chester Lee and Marie Swanson Scoggins and a son, James “Jimbo” Scoggins.
Survivors include his wife, Lorene Scoggins; sons, David Lee Scoggins Jr and Tommy Scoggins and a daughter, Brenda Kay (Larry) Gilreath; grandchildren, Jason and Justin Gilreath, Julie Turner and Kristie and Danielle Wilson; great-grandchildren, Johnathan, Jordan and Leah Gilreath, John Brandon Turner, Sarah Hannah, Kailyn Johnson and Lyric Ellis; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 4 PM to 8 PM on Wednesday, December 11 at the Valley View Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday at Valley View Chapel with interment to follow in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
