I worked with David. I was very shocked to hear of his passing. Since I was not a golfer - he and I would talk guitars. He would tell me what he use to have, currently has and would someday like to have. One time I brought one of my guitars in for David to play. He was really good. Several years ago he let me film him for a project I did at work. Every day I would hear him talk to a coworker next door to me. I can still hear his voice. The following Monday after his death I walked in his office as I had done many times in the past. He always had pictures of his wife, two daughters and granddaughters. He really loved his family. I pray God's grace upon them. We will miss David.

I have struggled for the past few days for the words to express my deepest sorrow for David's passing and can't seem to find the right ones. I took this picture a few years ago and today I know why I took it. This is what I think of when I think of him. Karen, Kristen, Ashley, and all of his extended family, may God comfort you as He only can and you will all be in  our prayers.

To the entire Nelson family, Esther and I offer our sincere condolences during this most difficult trial.  David was truly one who let His light shine for the Lord. While we now miss that light , heaven is somewhat brighter with his presence. Our prayer is God will comfort you in an abundant way.

Karen, May God's  grace carry your family through during this time of loss. My prayers and thoughts are with you.

I went to school with David at PCCS and kept up through high school.  We had reconnected on Facebook and he had told me how proud he was of his family and how much he loved the beauty of the world around him.  After you grow up in the beauty of Panama City, it's hard to find another place that you really love and David had.  But he told me that the thing he valued the most was his family time.  I know he has left a void in all your lives and my heart breaks for you.  The Nelson family will remain in my heart and prayers.

Jim and I want to express our deepest, heartfelt sympathy to the Nelson family.....he will be missed by all.  May the Lord give all of you the peace and comfort that only He is able to provide.

I went to college with Kristen and I know that she thought the world of her dad. Phillip and I lift the entire Nelson family up in prayer during this this incredibly hard time.

From 1997 through 2005 we lived in Chattanooga.  We feel we were fortunate to spend birthdays, holidays and family gatherings with David, Karen & family.  We truly treasure the time spent with them.  David was a wonderful, caring and giving person with a great sense of humor.  He will definitely be missed.  We are praying that God comforts Karen, the girls & family during this time.

David and I shared a connection that only fathers and grandfathers can fully appreciate.  Our families were united when our children, Ryan and Kristen, were married, but we were more than in-laws; we celebrated birthdays, holidays, and attended church together.  We each looked forward to watching our two granddaughters, Claire and Grace, grow up, and to the day that we could each retire and spend more time with them.  My granddaughters are left with a vital part of their life missing; a grandfather who dearly loved them. My life was enriched by having known David; the remainder of my life will be incalculably poorer without him.

I have had the privilege of working with David for the last several years and I always found him to be very knowlegable and most helpful when needed.  I will miss him and my prayers are that God will grant the family peace and solitude in the days to come.

I am reminded of the story of a young boy that, when requested to recite his memory assignment, The 23rd Psalm, stood and began "The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want" and sat down.  The teacher said "continue on" to which the boy replied, "why, doesn't that say it all?"  There are times when we just don't see things from God's perspective or appreciate His timing.  But, as the "Good Shepherd" He is always right.  While we may not see all there is to see, we can rely upon His everyday promise "I will never leave thee nor forsake thee" while we anticipate the future "But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love Him."    Certainly you will miss David and the heartache will not quickly pass, but for us who still remain, the best is yet to come.

I was shocked and so sad when I heard of David's passing. I'm truly sorry this happened and I'm praying you will have peace today and the days ahead.

I was so sorry to learn of David's death. He was a student in my 9th grade English class in Panama City, FL, and I remember him well. The family is in my prayers.
