Darlene Bohannon Owens

Darlene Bohannon Owens, wife of retired pastor of Ridgedale Baptist Church, Dr. Bill Owens, entered her heavenly rest on Thursday, April 11, 2013. Darlene was a native of Shelbyville, Kentucky. She graduated from Cumberland College, with a degree in education and later, earned her Masters in Early Childhood Education from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. Darlene retired from the Hamilton County School System, most recently teaching at East Brainerd Elementary. Darlene was active in the music ministry at her church and had served in the children’s Bible study and women’s mission organization.

Darlene was preceded in death by her father, William T. Bohannon.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, April (Michael) Lander and Billy (Audrey) Owens; mother, Joyce Bohannon; and grandchildren, Tripp, Abby, and Ransom.

Funeral services will be Sunday, April 14, 2013 at 6:00 p.m. at Ridgedale Baptist Church, 1831 Hickory Valley Road, Chattanooga, Tennessee 37421. The Student Disciples Sunday School Class will be honorary pallbearers.

Visitation will be Saturday, April 13, 2013 from 1:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. at the East Brainerd Chapel.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Ridgedale Baptist Church, 1831 Hickory Valley Road, Chattanooga, Tennessee 37421.
