A lifelong resident of the Chattanooga area, he was a retired Machinist with Southern Railway with 43 years of service, and was Veteran of W.W. II serving in the U.S. Army and Navy, where he helped in the liberation on Italy. He was discharged from the military in 1947. He was a member of the Meadowview Baptist Church in Georgetown. Sam loved playing golf with his friends and watching the “Vols”
He was a loving husband and father who will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Sam was raised in the depression and never complained about anything.
He was the son of the late James and Willie Davis and was preceded in death by his first wife, Sybil Lawson Davis; infant son, Ronnie Lee Davis; four brothers, Paul, Kenneth, Boskie and Earl Davis.
Survivors include his loving wife of 60 years, Marijane Stevens Davis; son, Sam Davis and his wife Lynn, Georgetown, TN.
A special thanks to Greg Plante, a wonderful friend, more like a son, who gave hours and days of his time helping the family with Sam, as well as outside chores.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday in the Valley View Chapel with the Rev. Patrick Wooden officiating. Interment will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. till the time of the service on Monday at the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory & Florist, 7414 Old Lee Highway.
