Ms. Brewer was born in Preston, Georgia, on April 8, 1933, daughter of the late Willis Barton Brock and Bertha Lee Brock. She was also preceded in death by two of her sons, Rick Brewer and Johnny Brewer; a brother, John Lewis Brock and three sisters Abelle Payne, Mae West and Ruby Teem Presley, all of Georgia.
Clara was of the Christian faith and enjoyed reading her Bible. She was a graduate of Ringgold High School. She loved her family, friends, and several very spoiled poodles she had over the years. She also enjoyed crocheting, solving crossword puzzles, and completing jigsaw puzzles, before dementia took away her ability to do so.
Survivors include her son, Jack (Danise) Brewer and daughter, Susan (Al) Tester, both of Georgia; six grandchildren, Shannon Brewer of Georgia, Lee Ann Brewer and Jessie Marie Brewer, both of South Carolina, Jessica Denney, Elizabeth Morris and Rob Tester, all of Georgia; ten great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Her children, grandchildren, and several great grandchildren, as well as two nieces, visited Clara the weekend before her passing to celebrate her. She was very happy to see them all.
The family would like to thank Hospice of Chattanooga for the tremendous in-home care and support they provided Ms. Brewer over the past year and a half, as well as while she was at NHC Rossville. Appreciation is also given to the staff of NHC Rossville for their care over the past few months. Staff of both facilities were an absolute godsend.
Chattanooga Funeral Home and Cremation will carry out Ms. Brewer’s wishes to be cremated. No formal service will be held at this time. Instead, in keeping with her request, a memorial service will be held at a later date, in remembrance of her to disperse her ashes in the location she previously chose.
