Betty Daniels Hughes, 86, of Ooltewah, TN (previously Marietta, GA) soared into the arms of Jesus on Friday, February 17, 2023. Waiting there to welcome her with huge smiles and open arms were her parents, Clarcie and Webb Daniels; her husband Herbert Allen “Bob” Hughes, Sr; their daughter, Dollena Dawn Hughes; her brother James William “Bill” Daniels; and a host of beloved friends and family who were rejoicing at her arrival.
Betty, more commonly known to most as Meemom, lived a beautiful life dedicated to her family and friends. She was born to Clarcie and Webb Daniels and was the (very tiny) big sister to her two baby brothers (who ironically towered over her). She met Herbert, the love of her life, at the young age of sixteen. After just one week, much to her parents dismay, they were married. This crazy decision would, as it turned out, lead to 67 years of marriage and a big, beautiful family that was her absolute pride and joy. Her love for her family was second only to her love for the Lord, and Betty never missed an opportunity to share both with everyone around her. She was a proud member of Silverdale Baptist Church for many years and of Roswell Street Baptist Church for many years before that.
Betty had a great passion for helping others in any way she could. This is what fueled her almost 47 year partnership with Shaklee, a health and wellness company. She traveled all over the world with Shaklee and impacted the lives of so many. God richly blessed her business and she was able to achieve goals and set company records that are unparalleled to this very day. She was still committed to her business and to sharing her Shaklee story even through her very last months. It was never work to her—it was true joy and dedication to what she believed in and truly loved.
She is survived by her sons Tom (Yvonne) Hughes, Allen (Susan) Hughes, and Denny Hughes; her brother, Jerry (Martha) Daniels; 10 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren who always brought a huge smile to her face; many nieces and nephews; a countless number of other family members; and many wonderful friends that were truly like family in her heart.
While the loss of our Meemom will leave a huge hole in our lives, we know that the Heavenly reunion on Friday, February 17th was the most beautiful sight to see. We also know that she will be standing front and center with her beautiful smile and bright eyes waiting to welcome us home one day.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 AM Tuesday, February 21, 2023, in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Tony Walliser officiating. Interment will follow at 3 PM at the GA Memorial Park Cemetery, Marietta, GA.
